Abstract
Involvement of cardiovascular system associated with congenital cytomegalovirus infection (CMVI) is poorly known. Clinicopathologic analysis of 490 case histories and autopsy of children who died within 2000 - 2008 were carried out. Fetal cytomegalic inclusion disease on section material was shown to occur in 11,6% cases and 5,1% cases were accompanied with gross heart and vascular lesions. Structural changes in cardiovascular system associated with fetal cytomegalic inclusion disease are systemic and accompanied with phasic development with alternating acute, congenital productive, stenotic changes of small vessels. Peculiarities of heart and aort cystic cystic ic defects associated with CMVI are indicated. It was shown that cardiac fibroelastosis, hypoplasia and aortic cystic medionecrosis are due to secondary impairment of interstitial substance associated with fetal cytomegalic inclusion disease.
