Abstract
117 patients with Fallots Tetralogy and subarteial ventricular septal defect (main group) and 50 patients with
subaortic and perimembranous ventricular septal defect were operated in Bakoulev SCCVS RAMS between
1985 and 2010.
Mean age of patients in main group at the moment of surgery was 8.9 ± 0.3 years, hemoglobin level was
170.4 ± 0.3 g/l, blood oxygen saturation in capillaries - 83.3 ± 0.6%.
All operations were performed from median access according to standard technique under cardiopulmonary
bypass, hypothermia, aortic cross-clamping and combined cold blood cardioplegia.
5 patients (4.3%) from main group died in short terms after operation. No lethal complications were observed
in main group. Different non-lethal complications were noted in 30 (18%) patients from main group and in 12
patients from control group in a short-term period.
Therefore, immediate results of radical correction for Fallots Tetralogy with subarterial ventricular septal
defect are satisfactory and associated with insignificant complications.
