Abstract
Mortality in infective endocarditis remains high, despite early diagnostics and a large arsenal of antibiotics with a wide spectrum
of antimicrobial activity. Mitral annular abscess is a rare complication of infective endocarditis. We present a case of a successful surgical correction of mitral valve annular abscess at the child 3 year 5 months. The operation was performed with cardiopulmonary
bypass, hypothermia and cardioplegia. The early postoperative period was uneventful. Echocardiography results showed a good
hemodynamic correction effect at discharge: there was no regurgitation on the valve, peak gradient on the mitral valve was 6 mm Hg.
