Abstract
Truncus arteriosus a relatively rare type of congenital heart defects, accounting for about 1,7–4,6% of all congenital heart diseases (CHD). In 10–20% of cases truncus arteriosus is combined with anomalies of aortic arch. Truncus arteriosus is an anomaly in which one great vessel branching from heart appears as a spring of systemic, lung and coronary blood flow. This CHD is caused by absence of forming of conotruncal septum. The arrest of development occurs approximately on 32th day of embryonic development. Blood flows through both of the ventricles to truncal vessel because of ventricular septal defect, which is almost always present.
The article describes two cases of successful repair of truncus arteriosus with concomitant rare anomalies of aortic arch forming in newborns. There are no standardized method of surgical repair, taking into consideration that this combination is very rare and the anatomic variants are various. The authors present their experience of surgical repair of truncus arteriosus with aim to accumulate experience and casuistic cases in database. We substantiate and confirm safety of chosen strategy. Special attention should be paid to differential diagnosis with other pathologies, which can influence on the choice of surgical repair tactics.
