Abstract
Curriculum vitae of English anatomist and surgeon J. Wilson (1765 - 1821) is stated for the first time in this
article, original description of common truncus arteriousus which was made in 1798 is outlined with the participation
of his teacher, an outstanding English doctor and anatomist M. Ballie (1761 - 1823). Contemporary
translation of anomaly description is presented and further history concerning the study of this congenital
heart defect is briefly discussed.
