Abstract
The recent methods have been discussed regarding the treatment of the protein-losing enteropathy occurred in the long-term after the Fontan
operation. The results of our own observa-tions have been reported. Our study focused on 4 patients with the low pressure in the pulmonary
artery who additionally received the low-intensive laser treatment in the complex therapy for the protein-losing enteropathy.
1 patient suffered from the recurrent chylous pericarditis, 3 patients had the edema of lower extremities as a clinical manifestation, mildly
manifested ascites and bilateral hydrochylothorax. As a result of complex treatment the exudates in the pericardium disappeared after the
5th session of laser therapy. Clinical symptoms of the enteropathy in one patient disappeared after the 1st course of therapy, in 2 patients in
the middle of the 2nd course of laser therapy. The tendency to normalization of the protein level has been noted as well as albumin and lipid
profile in the biochemical blood tests.
The authors have expressed the supposition that the low-intensive laser treatment might become the pathognomonic mode of treatment for
protein-losing enteropathy.
