Abstract
26 children (9 boys and 17 girls) with impaired communication between right ventricle and pulmonary trunk were operated from
2003 to 2013. Modified Blalock-Taussig systemic-pulmonary anastomosis was performed in 11 patients in the first stage of surgical
treatment, in 4 – stenting of patent arterial duct. All patients underwent right ventricular outflow tract reconstruction without closure
of ventricular septal defect. At the time of hospital discharge oxygen saturation was 93,2 ± 5,7 %, hemoglobin content and
hematocrit were within normal values. The mortality rate for this group of patients was 7,7 %. This type of operation can be recommended
for children with pulmonary artery atresia in hypoplasia of pulmonary arterial system and reduced left ventricular size.
