Abstract
Congenital heart disease (CHD) is characterized by impaired communication between the right ventricle and pulmonary trunk it is one of the most difficult problems of surgery of CHD. In this regard, there are actual issues of right ventricular outflow tract (RVOT) reconstruction for these defects. The main types of conduits used for the reconstruction of RVOT are homografts and xenografts. Using homografts for many years was considered the “gold standard” surgical treatment of CHD with RVOT obstruction, but their high degree of calcification, as well as limitations in the use of homografts small size, demanded searches of new generation conduit. In 1999 began the practice of cardiac application conduits from the bovine jugular vein. The article presents the analysis of the liter- ature on experimental and clinical results of the use of bovine jugular vein conduit for the RVOT reconstruction, complications, which arising from the implantation of these conduits and emphasizes those risk factors for the development of certain clinical events.
