Abstract
Introduction. Congenital coronary heart fistulas (CSF) of small diameter do not cause hemodynamic disorders, are clinically asymptomatic, and they are usually detected in children during screening examinations. Objective. To study the functional state of children and young people with small – diameter CSF. Material and methods. 37 patients aged from 6 to 38 years were examined (median 11 (25th and 75th – 8.5 and 11.5) years, 26 – male, 11 – female.
Results. During the bicycle ergometric test, the majority of patients showed high physical performance, and ischemic changes on the electrocardiography (ECG) were detected in 7 patients. In all patients with ischemic changes, the diameter of the CSF was 1.8 mm or more.
Conclusion. Children and persons of young age with CSF of a small diameter it is recommended to conduct tests with physical load. Ischemic ECG changes are statistically significantly more frequent when the fistula diameter is more than 1.8 mm (p = 0.002). The results of physical activity tests can be used to determine further management tactics for patients with CSF and to develop individual recommendations on the acceptable level of physical activity.
