Abstract
Left ventricular outflow tract (LVOT) obstruction in children with transposition of the great arteries occurs in one third of patients, and according to various authors the frequency of this pathology varies within 30–38%. It may occur at various levels and may be caused by several anatomical structures including tricuspid valve tissue. The septal leaflet of tricuspid valve may prolapse through perimembranous ventricular septal defect or rarely tricuspid valve tissue may override to cause LVOT obstruction. The article describes the case of successful radical correction of transposition of the great arteries with left ventricular outflow tract obstruction by tricuspid valve tissue through ventricular septal defect in 4 months-old child.
