Abstract
The combination of a common arterial trunk (CAT) and aortic arch interruption (AAI) is a rare congenital heart defect. Approaches to the correction of truncal valve insufficiency, are ambiguous and associated with high mortality. This case description presents surgical treatment of CAT and AAI in combination with a truncal valve insufficiency in a child aged 11 days. The correction method consisted ventricular septal defect close with the displacement of the truncal valve into the left ventricle, prosthetics with a pulmonary homograph, eliminating the aortic rupture and creating a connection between the right ventricle and the pulmonary artery with a homograph from the femoral vein. The patient was examined three months after surgery – satisfactory function of the homografts was noted, however, narrowing was noted at the mouths of the branches of the pulmonary artery. Balloon dilation of the branches was performed 6 months after the operation, with a positive effect.
