Abstract
The review give information about basics of mechanical ventilation in newborns, discussed the main aspects of the physiological respiratory function of the lungs, which have a significant influence on the set of the parameters of invasive respiratory therapy. Special
attention is paid to the peculiarities of gas exchange and respiratory mechanics, which are the main during mechanical ventilation.
Disclosed concepts such as the compliance, resistance, time constant, oxygenation index, and others. We discuss the oxygenation
and ventilation management. An example of the selection of clinical parameters of mechanical ventilation, taking into account the
respiratory monitoring data.
